A violent incident unfolded at Grand Central-42nd Street Station on Christmas Eve when an individual attacked two people with a knife in separate confrontations, according to police and law enforcement sources.

The incident began around 10:15 p.m. when the attacker engaged in an altercation with a 42-year-old man on the stairs leading to the southbound entrance. The dispute escalated, resulting in the suspect slashing the man’s left wrist.

After the initial attack, the perpetrator ascended another set of stairs where he became involved in a second confrontation. This time, the assailant targeted a 26-year-old woman, slashing her neck near a turnstile area.

Emergency services transported both victims to Bellevue Hospital, where medical staff listed them in stable condition.

The suspect attempted to escape via an escalator following the second attack. However, alert witnesses notified nearby police officers, who successfully apprehended the individual and recovered the weapon used in the attacks.

According to the NYPD, they currently have a person of interest in custody, though formal charges are pending.

Law enforcement sources revealed that the detained individual has a criminal history, including previous arrests for criminal mischief, fare evasion, and assaulting a police officer.
