Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) launched a scathing rebuke of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) after she endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. Vance accused both Cheney and Harris of gaining wealth and power while American families suffer the consequences of wars they promote.
Vance spoke at a Turning Point USA event with Charlie Kirk, where he criticized Cheney’s career, saying she has consistently pushed for military conflicts that send Americans to fight and die. “They get rich when America loses wars,” Vance said, referring to both Cheney and Harris.
Kirk echoed Vance’s comments, noting that many of the Washington establishment, who have long supported U.S. military interventions, are now backing Harris. In contrast, Vance and Trump, the 2024 Republican presidential candidate, have presented themselves as advocates for peace and American strength.
Vance continued to target Cheney, citing her foreign policy record in Afghanistan. He argued that Cheney’s push for military involvement has cost the lives of many young Americans and left the country weaker. “Her policies sent thousands of American children to fight and die for unrealistic goals abroad,” Vance said.
Cheney’s decision to endorse Harris came after her long-standing opposition to Trump, whom she has consistently criticized, especially following the Capitol protests in 2021. Cheney has stated that she believes Trump poses a threat to the country, which is why she cannot support his candidacy in the upcoming election.
