During the weekend in Chicago under Mayor Brandon Johnson’s leadership, fourteen individuals fell victim to shootings, with two incidents resulting in fatalities.

According to ABC 7’s coverage, one deadly incident occurred early Saturday morning around 4 a.m. The shooting took place on a sidewalk located in the “1100-block of South St. Louis Avenue,” where a 30-year-old individual sustained fatal gunshot wounds to their chest and back.

A second fatal shooting transpired later that same day at approximately 4:15 p.m., claiming the life of a 51-year-old man. The incident stemmed from a confrontation with a female individual who subsequently drew a firearm and shot the victim in the head. WGN-TV’s reporting indicated that “police said the incident is domestic-related and area detectives are investigating.”

The violence continues a troubling pattern from the previous year. Statistics from Breitbart News reveal that during Johnson’s tenure as mayor, Chicago experienced approximately 2,800 shooting incidents throughout 2024, encompassing both fatal and non-fatal cases.

The situation shows no signs of improvement in the new year, with the Chicago Sun-Times reporting that the city has already recorded twelve homicides since the start of 2025.
