The Hollow Shell of American Liberalism
Remember when liberals actually stood for something? Free speech, individual rights, rule of law, equality of opportunity? Those days are gone, folks. Today’s “liberals” have surrendered their entire philosophical foundation to Marxist radicals who’ve been playing the long game. While conservatives have been warning about this ideological invasion for decades, we’re now witnessing the final collapse of the center-left as a viable political force with any coherent belief system apart from orange-man-bad hysteria and blind allegiance to increasingly radical progressive dogma.
The evidence is everywhere. Vladimir Putin smugly declared that “the liberal idea has become obsolete,” and for once, I’m struggling to find a good reason to disagree with the Russian autocrat. Traditional liberal principles that once formed the bedrock of Western democracy – things like protecting individual rights, promoting free markets, and upholding constitutional limits on government power – have been abandoned by those who claim to be their defenders. Instead, today’s “liberals” embrace identity politics, massive government expansion, and increasingly brazen censorship of opposing viewpoints.
How Did We Get Here? Blame the Schools
How did this happen? Look no further than our education system, which has transformed from teaching critical thinking into indoctrination factories. Traditional curricula that fostered appreciation for our nation’s founding principles have been systematically replaced by “educational” approaches designed to create good little followers instead of independent thinkers. When kids spend 12+ years being taught that America is fundamentally flawed and that collective identity trumps individual merit, is it any wonder they embrace Marxist ideas with open arms?

The funny part – if there is one – is that the supposed intellectual elites who consider themselves “classical liberals” or “moderate Democrats” have no idea they’re being played. They still think they’re in the driver’s seat while Marxist ideologues use them as useful idiots. These people get misty-eyed talking about the New Deal while their party embraces policies that would make Stalin blush. They’re the frog in the slowly boiling pot, too comfortable to notice they’re being cooked until it’s too late.
The Trump Derangement Catalyst
Nothing accelerated this leftward lurch like the election of Donald Trump. The moment Trump descended that golden escalator, something broke in the liberal mind. Rational thought was replaced by blind hatred. Policy discussions became impossible. Anyone who didn’t join in the anti-Trump hysteria was instantly branded a fascist sympathizer. This environment created the perfect conditions for radicals to seize control – after all, if Trump was literally Hitler (he wasn’t), then any tactic, any alliance, any abandonment of principle was justified to stop him.

Let’s be crystal clear: The Marxists now effectively control the Democratic Party, dominate mainstream media outlets, and have infiltrated our judiciary. They’ve weaponized government agencies against political opponents, normalized election manipulation through lawfare, and are systematically dismantling the constitutional guardrails that protect our republic. Meanwhile, “moderate” liberals stand by, wringing their hands about “tone” and “civility” while their political home is colonized by radicals who have no interest in the liberal democratic project.
A Choice for True Liberals: Join Us or Fade Away
So here’s my message to any real liberals still out there: You have exactly two choices. You can continue enabling the Marxist takeover, pretending everything is fine while your movement gets hollowed out from within. Or you can join forces with conservatives in a pro-democracy alliance to preserve the American experiment. As thinker Yoram Hazony correctly points out, there is no third option. The center-left as a viable political force is dead unless it breaks decisively with the radical elements that have hijacked it.
The America First movement isn’t your enemy – we’re fighting to preserve the very constitutional system that allows all viewpoints to exist. We may disagree on tax rates or healthcare policy, but those disagreements are luxuries we can only afford within a functioning democratic republic. If we lose that, nothing else matters. So what’s it going to be, liberals? Will you choose America, or will you choose the Marxist road to ruin? The clock is ticking, and history won’t look kindly on those who stood silently by while freedom was dismantled in the name of “progress.”
