In a candid interview on Monday, former deputy national security adviser KT McFarland expressed her concerns about the Biden administration’s lack of transparency regarding the recent sightings of unidentified drones across various locations in the United States. McFarland suggested that the administration’s evasive stance on the matter has fueled speculation that they might be “hiding something” from the American public.

Drawing a contrast with the approach of the Trump administration, McFarland stated, “President Trump would have gotten on the air with the American people and said, Look, we don’t know what it is, but here’s what we think it might be. Or, It’s us. We’re doing a practice run. We’re trying to test out new weapons. Don’t be worried about it. But there’s none of that.”

She further criticized the administration’s responses as being “highly lawyered” and vague, leaving more questions than answers. “It just leads to more and more questions. So you got to wonder at this point, What are they trying to cover up?” McFarland questioned.

Addressing the scale and scope of the drone sightings, McFarland emphasized that the size of the drones and the extensive areas impacted across the country suggest the involvement of a “really large government organization.” She raised the possibility of various scenarios, including the search for weapons from fallen authoritarian regimes or the monitoring of radiation or chemical emissions.

“They’re flying at night, they’re not flying during the day β€” are they trying to find something like radiation emissions, chemical emissions?” she speculated. “We do know that there are a lot that remain unaccounted for β€” nuclear weapons β€” that came out of the Soviet Union at the fall of the Soviet Union. We also are worried about Syrian chemical weapons, as Syria’s been taken over. What happened to those chemical weapons? Have they not all been secured and destroyed?”

If the drones are indeed being operated by the U.S. government for testing purposes, McFarland suggested that the Biden administration should be transparent about it. “If this is just a test run for something, the American people understand that; that’s fine,” she said.

However, McFarland expressed concern about the administration’s lack of credibility, citing previous instances where they provided assurances that were later proven false. “These are the people that said, ‘Oh, Joe Biden’s just fine. He’s really sharp in meetings.’ Or, ‘Kamala Harris, she’s terrific.’ Or, ‘The border is not an open border.’ So, at this point, the government has almost no credibility.”

Noting the proximity of the drone sightings to important locations such as cities, military bases, and even Trump National Golf Course, McFarland emphasized the importance of transparency. “So why don’t they tell us? And with the fact that they don’t tell us, you have to assume they’re hiding something, which is even worse than telling us the truth.”
