The Polish woman who previously claimed to be Madeleine McCann has resurfaced with new allegations, presenting what she says is fresh DNA evidence supporting her connection to the missing British girl’s father.
Julia Wandelt, known also as Julia Wendell or Julia Faustyna, insists that recent DNA test results indicate a potential biological relationship with Gerry McCann. This comes after her initial claim in 2023, when she created an Instagram account suggesting she might be the young girl who disappeared during a Portuguese vacation in 2007.
Her previous assertions were discredited last April following DNA testing that revealed her heritage as Polish, Lithuanian, and Romanian, leading to an apology to Madeleine’s parents. Now, Wandelt has launched a new Instagram presence, @amijuliawandelt, where she’s sharing what she describes as new genetic evidence.

According to Wandelt, an unnamed “world expert” has analyzed her DNA and found matches with Madeleine’s characteristics, including dental features, eye structure, and vocal patterns. She’s taken to social media claiming British and Irish ancestry, specifically suggesting a strong genetic link to Gerry McCann.
The Polish national alleges that testing of evidence from the Portuguese crime scene, including hair and saliva samples, resulted in a 69.23% match. She maintains that this data suggests a father-daughter relationship with Gerry McCann, though the McCanns have not participated in any testing.
Her previous efforts to prove her identity included multiple forensic examinations and ancestry testing. She appeared on “Dr. Phil” to defend her position and counter accusations from her Polish parents about document theft.

Surjit Singh Clair, Wandelt’s spokesperson, told the Daily Mail that she continues to seek DNA testing from both the McCanns and her Polish parents, though neither party has agreed. Clair questioned why authorities wouldn’t conduct a simple DNA test given the substantial investigation budget.
The original disappearance occurred when the McCanns were dining at a nearby restaurant, periodically checking on their children who were sleeping in their vacation apartment. At 10 p.m., Kate McCann discovered their daughter missing, with the bedroom door and window open.
