Young Korean actress dies at 24 in Seoul

Tragic news emerged Monday as South Korean police confirmed the death of Kim Sae-ron, a prominent 24-year-old actress, who died by suicide.

The talented performer, who recently appeared in Netflix’s popular series “Bloodhounds,” was discovered lifeless in her Seoul residence. A friend, who had arranged to meet with her, found her body around 4:50 p.m. local time in the Seongdong-gu district.

“We believe she made an extreme choice and plan to handle it as a suicide,” officials informed reporters, according to local news outlet Yonhap.

Law enforcement officials noted the absence of a suicide note and confirmed they found no evidence suggesting foul play, though investigations continue.

Kim’s journey in entertainment began early, launching her acting career at just 9 years old. She gained widespread recognition through her performances in the 2010 action film “The Man from Nowhere” and later in the 2012 thriller “The Neighbor.”

Her career faced a significant setback in May 2022 when she was involved in a drunk driving incident, colliding with an electrical transformer box. The South China Morning Post reported that this incident led to her withdrawal from public life and resulted in a fine of 20 million won (approximately $13,850).

The public scandal surrounding the crash prompted her to step back from her professional commitments, including withdrawing from the drama series “Trolley.” Despite attempting to revive her career the following year, health complications forced her to limit her public appearances once again.

Her final screen appearance was in the action-packed series “Bloodhounds.” Throughout her career, Kim accumulated numerous accolades, including multiple “Best New Actress” recognitions at Korean arts ceremonies, as documented in her IMDB profile.
